Traditional Brazilian Rituals of the Temple Guaracy
The Gira or Ceremony
A Gira is one of the primary rituals in the Afro-Brazilian spiritual tradition of Umbanda. During the ritual sacred rhythm, song and dance prepares the space for the mediums to invoke their spiritual guides. These guides bring cleansing, balance, harmony and blessings.
Our Guides help us to find the balance in the natural energies of our spiritual bodies. They are beings of light, the light of consciousness, of emanating wisdom, truth and peace. During the trance or incorporation of these Entities, the Medium “captures” this energy and transmits this through the spiritual work which they do. They clear the electromagnetic field of negative influences and harmonize the spiritual body.
In the tradition of Umbanda, we enter into the profound mysteries of the Universe. A composition of philosophy, science, religion and art, we give movement to the positive energies of the Universe. The rituals give us a structure and a pathway into the understanding of ourselves and a deep communication of Nature.
